Eagles’ best yet to come, says coach

THE Eagles will be a force to be reckoned with during the footy finals which begin next Saturday, says coach Darryl Ryder.

“There’s been a change of attitude from some of the senior players along with the return of several key players,” he said.

“There’s definitely renewed faith in the Eagles and I believe we’re in with a good chance.”

Ryder admits reigning Barkly Australian Football League premiers, Ti Tree Roosters, will be a hard nut to crack but says anything can happen during the finals.

“Ti Tree are definitely pushing for a second straight final win,” he said.

“They are big game players and certainly know how to turn up the heat on momentous occasions.

“But the Eagles will have something to say about that and I’m sure the other finalists will also.”

The final four seem to be all sewn up for the finals series with the Dane Nicholls-coached Spitfires leading the way.

In-form players for the Spitfires, Jeremiah Charlie, Tyler Horwood and Dwayne Ross, are going to stamp their authority in the finals, followed closely by the high-flying Roosters.

In third place are the Ian Hicks-trained YDU Memos who have been going from strength to strength each and every game.

Then there are the Eagles sitting fourth on the ladder, trying to fight their way to the top.

Ryder said the younger brigade of players, including Anthony Lake, Jaxon Ryder, Harvey Williams, Shane Green, Mitchell Hayes, Nicholas Corbett, Nicholas Tracker and Waylon Morrison, had carried the Eagles over the line so far.

“Hopefully they can continue on with the good form and continue to provide into the finals,” he said.

“But no matter the outcome of this season, you can be assured the finals are going to be one hell of a crackerjack campaign by each team.

“And I wish each team and their coaches the best of luck.”

FOCUSSED: Janapurlaki’s leadership group includes Glenn Waistcoat, Lockie Lake, Ashley Lanse, Kelvin Morison (captain), Noel Jones, Dan Toner and Thomas Gillett.
