MOREE FC travelled to Wee Waa at the weekend.

First grade captain, Angus McVey, said the game against Wee Waa was quite tough.

“The score was 1-1. Everyone was taking it easy so that no-one was injured for the semis next weekend,” he said.

Stand out players were Matty Davis and Sachin Ramsamy who played on the right wing.

First grade will be playing in the semi finals this weekend against East Armidale in Moree. If they win Moree FC will be playing in the major quarter finals.

“We are confident that we can take home a win next weekend. It will just depend on how well we travel,” he said.

Reserve grade had a dominating win of 7-2 against Wee Waa.

“They were the stronger squad and travelled really well,” McVey said.

Will Adams, Lyndon Madden and Damien Briggs were all goal scorers in reserves.

THE under 18 Bulls will be taking on Tamworth this weekend in Inverell.

President, Paul Cooke, said he was quietly confident.

“The boys could do really well. They are a good team and work well together,” he said.

If they win against Tamworth, the under 18s will secure a spot in the grand final.

The rugby union presentation night will be held at the clubhouse on September 22.

Tickets are $40.

THE Moree Boomerangs A grade and reserve grade teams travelled away to play against Guyra at the weekend.

Reserve grade came home with a win 28-24.

Alfred Newman scored three tries and Lesley Fuller and Jason Saunders both scored one.

The first grade team had a tough game against Guyra with the game being called off three minutes early.

The game was dirty the whole way through but an all-in brawl left officials with nothing but to do but end the game.

The Boomies were leading 18-4 at half time but were dominated by Guyra in the second half.

The end result was 42-22 to Guyra.

Four of Guyra’s players were taken to hospital due to dirty play.
