Team of Two Fleeces was won byGreg Growden valued at $180.40.David’s win proved that his

preference for big framed sheepwas to be benefi cial, as his finalweight cut measured in at 13 kgfor a single sheep.

“For one sheep, that is huge, anything over 10 is big,” David said.

Now having entered for the last30 years, David said he was happywith the final result.

“We (David and Brody Lock) putthe six sheep in two teams andmine happened to be the betterone.”

With Greg’s win of $180.40 forthe best pair of fleeces, proving only18 cents short of David Lock’s, Gregsaid “It feels good, overall the woolsare good and soft and I’m happywith how my sheep are producing.

“It was a little more aboutweight of the fleece than micronsthis time, because the valuationof the microns were a bit closer.

“It took a couple of good fl eecesto get up there,” he said.

Speaking of his strategy for theday, Greg said his strategy wouldbe the same as other entries, “justgo through visually and hope that Igo through with a thickness of woolon the sheep and a long staple andquality wool.”

Not only great for competition, the day proved educational, withBordertown High School year 10agriculture students attending tocarry on a 30 year tradition.

Lead by Agriculture teacher DirkEnneking, students had three oftheir own sheep on farm, pickingone that produced the least valueof wool.
