Police charge second man over Bonville armed robbery

Police have charged a second man in relation to an armed robbery and shooting at Bonville in Februarythis year.

About 10pm, Tuesday, February28, two men, aged 25 and 35, attended Butler Road at Bonville to meet a man and purchase a quad bike and dirt bike.They were met by three men, armed with rifles, who threatened them and demanded cash.

During the incident one of the men was struck with the rifle before the armed men stole cash and fled in a white 1990 model Nissan Pintara.

The two men returned to their vehicle and gave chase following the Nissan towards Glenniffer Road where a number of shots were fired at their vehicle.

The stolen Nissan Pintara was later located in Gleniffer Road and seized by police for forensic examination.

Yesterday (Monday, August 27), police arrested a 21-year-old man at Coffs Harbour Police Station.He has been charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and being carried in conveyance.

The man has been refused bail and will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.

Police arrested and charged a second man in May this year in relation to the incident.

Investigations are continuing by Strike Force Ballumbir to find the third person involved.
