Headspace Murray Bridgemanager Frauke Hobbs said thegroup was for any parent, not justthose with apparent issues.

“(We’re) trying to break thatstigma of saying, you know, as aparent I can’t be seen to be in aparenting course because it willjust show that I’m not coping,” shesaid.

“So it’s also for parents whomay have children that are notteenagers yet who want to preparefor that journey; they’re alsowelcome to attend.

“So it’s supposed to be moreinformal where parents can raisetheir issues.”

The monthly sessions will befacilitated at The Station by fourexperts from local, Headspace andCentacare.

“All of us have or have hadteenagers at home as well, andthat’s very important, that thefacilitators come from the livedexperience and we share that aswell,” Ms Hobbs said.

Coomandook parent Kris Dalitzsaid the sessions would build onthe discussions from last year’sparenting series at The Station.

“There’s been nothing like thisin the community,” she said.

“That’s why the last one was sosuccessful.”
