Turn on lights
THERE will be extra Maritime NSW patrols this Easter Long weekend with safety officers targeting night lights.
Maritime director Tony Middleton said boating officers would do random checks of lighting on powered, sail and paddle craft from Good Friday up to Easter Monday.
“You wouldn’t drive on a dark road without headlights,” Mr Middleton said.
“The same applies to dark waterways — be bright.”
All vessels operating from sunset to sunrise, whether at anchor or under way, must carry and exhibit the correct lights.
Officers will also target lifejacket compliance. Details: maritime.nsw.gov.au
