Set to be held at the Forbes Sports and Recreation Club this Thursday (August 30) from 6pm, the AGM is giving everyone in the community the opportunity to become involved in next year’s festival.

“The River Arts Festival is changing the way we do AGMs.

“We want to inspire people to think creatively about how we can make it bigger and better and more wonderful for next time and what they can do.

“Whether it’s a big activity of some sort or a stall or dancing on the street or with the lanterns, there are all sorts of ways people can get involved and do to be better [and] we need to get started now,” Ms Findlay said.

The proposed three-day program includes a ‘Welcome to Country’ spectacular, street party, flotilla, arts and crafts exhibitions, market stalls and a lantern parade.

“The reason the AGM is important is because people can become members of this new organisation and have a say in how the festival evolves.

“It’s the community’s festival and the River Arts Festival Inc is the organising body and everyone in town can be a member and be involved.

Graphic designer Rosie Johnston, Lachlan CMA Communications Officer Leanne Kennedy, festival founder Merrill Findlay, Lachlan CMA Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Officer Larry Towney, Lachlan CMA Acting General Manager Ian Shepherd and Lachlan CMA director Mary Ewing.

“Whether you’re a dancer, musician, visual artist, poet, local business, school, government department, non-government organisation, service club, stall holder, volunteer or ‘just a local’, you can help make the 2013 Kalari-Lachlan River Arts Festival the biggest and best in the region,” Ms Findlay said.

Although last year’s inaugural event was held in September, the date for the 2013 festival will be held from October 25 to October 27.

Membership of the new incorporated association is $2 per year. Membership forms will be available at the meeting or can be downloaded from www.riverartsfestival南京夜网.au
