Robert Souma, 47, had been jailed in Queensland in August 2006 for seven years and eight months for his part in the trafficking of 147.6 grams of cocaine.

The non-parole period was two years and eight months, and in 2008 he was released from custody in Queensland and moved to NSW.

Souma needed the written permission of the federal Attorney-General to travel overseas, and in September 2011 he left Australia.

He was required to return to Australia by December 14 last year but returned on March 18.

Souma is now in custody. The matter was adjourned to Sutherland Local Court on May 3.
