Numbers up for hereford sale and show

DECADES ago it was probably one of the biggest Hereford bull sales in the state but now the Glen Innes Hereford Bull sale is one of the best, with 126 bulls catalogued for sale this Wednesday.

That number is up on last year’s catalogue of 78 bulls.

The revamped sale will again offer 18 heifers which gives smaller studs the opportunity to sell females.

The president of the Glen Innes Hereford Show and Sale committee, Angus Vivers said the committee had put in a lot of hard work to improve the sale and this had paid off with the results experienced last year.

The fact that the sale has different bloodlines on offer is a big attraction for vendors who are expected to come from far and wide for the annual sale.

“One thing about Glen Innes is it’s the only show and sale where both polled and horned bulls are judged and offered together,” he said.

The sale will start with bull judging at 9a.m with experienced Poll Hereford breeder Steve Crowley, Barraba and his daughter Lisa Hannaford set to judge this year’s line up.

Presentation of trophies will take place at 12pm with the sale getting underway at 12.30pm.
