Camperdown police Senior Constable Andrew Raven said it appeared that thieves had cut a lock on a gate into the Gellie Street depot during the night.

He said the truck, valued at about $300,000, was then started, removed from the depot and another lock was put on the gate.

“The truck has Corangamite Shire Council stickers on it. The thieves obviously knew what they were doing,” he said.

“They’ve started the truck, which was fully laden with gravel, without a key and driven it off. It’s a fairly professional job. I would say they knew exactly what they were doing.”

Anyone with information, or who has seen the white truck, is requested to contact Camperdown police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
