A brave Carolyn Bliss, 57, spoke to reporters outside Miranda police station last week in an attempt to find the man who threatened her with a screwdriver and punched her in the head several times on Thursday, March 22.

Ms Bliss was sleeping alone in an upstairs bedroom when her attacker broke into her Holland Street house between 1.30am and 1.50am.

Police were told she managed to break free from her attacker and screamed for help.

“It was terrifying. It was very scary. I didn’t think I’d live,” she said. “I have a feeling I was being watched.”

Ms Bliss said she wanted to help find her attacker so that he would not do the same thing to someone else.

“I’m doing this today as I need to show the person responsible that they have not won. I would call on anyone in my local area who may have seen something that can assist police to come forward.

“The assault only caused minor physical injuries, however, it’s the mental anguish it has caused, and could cause, to other member of the community, that has led me to make this public appeal,” Ms Bliss said.

The man depicted in the police sketch above was described as Caucasian, about 175 centimetres tall, aged in his 30s, with facial hair and a slight accent. At the time, he was wearing a blue long-sleeved hooded jacket with a white symbol on it.
