Tourists stranded in Fiji after tropical storm

‘‘We understand people are anxious about the situation, and worried about how and when they will be able to return to Australia, and whether they have enough provisions for the current situation,’’ a spokesman said.

Australian officials were in regular contact with Fiji’s National Disaster Management Office. Most hotels and resorts now have access to basic services and amenities

A halt of incoming flights was lifted at 2pm today but will be reviewed daily.

‘‘Travellers are urged to contact their airline directly to ascertain the status of flights in and out of Nadi.’’

There are about 1400 Australians registered with Smartraveller in Fiji.

The spokesman said people who held concerns for family should attempt to contact them directly.

Those who held concern for their welfare could Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135.
