Some classical music for autumn

Tuning in: Conductor and composer, Sven Libaek.AN AUTUMN concert by Sutherland Shire Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor and composer, Sven Libaek, has been planned to showcase local talent.

The highlight of the April 1 concert will be Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for two violins, with concertmaster Jim Stewart joined by local violinist K.P. Ch’ng.

Stewart studied violin at the NSW Conservatorium of Music and was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra.

Ch’ng, who is the orchestra’s principal second violinist, has played in Italy, Asia and the UK.

Sutherland Shire secondary teacher and violinist, Bronwyn Baker, who is also a former NSW Conservatorium of Music student, will play Autumn from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Concertgoers can look forward to Mozart’s Overture to Il Seraglio, Haydn’s London Symphony and Handel’s Water Music Suite.
