Roadside relief leads to drink-driving charge

A MAN who stopped torelieve his bladder on the side of the Olympic Highway has been charged withlow-range drink-driving.

Police were driving on the highway, heading towards Youngwhen they noticed a man urinating next to a vehicle at Wallendbeen.

The Wallendbeen public toilets were 100 meters away and theman was in open view of motorists passing by, police said.

According to police, liquor could be smelt on the man’sbreath when they spoke to him.

Police determined the man was the driver of the carhe was urinating next to and he was subjected to a breath test, which allegedlyreturned a positive reading.

The 42-year-old Cootamundra man was arrested and later atthe Young police station he allegedly returned a positive breath analysisreading of .056.

He was charged with offensive conduct and low-rangedrink-driving and will face Cootamundra Local Courton October 5.
