Robert Nesbitt, 36, and Guy Jarvis, 27, have been charged with six counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery after they were arrested in the city yesterday morning.

Police allege the pair were armed with shotguns when they entered Myer’s busy Bourke Street department store and threatened staff in the cosmetics department about 4pm on Saturday. The men allegedly fled with cash.

Nesbitt, of no fixed address, and Jarvis, from Hawthorn, faced an out-of-sessions court hearing late yesterday and were remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

Yesterday, Myer spokeswoman Jo Lynch said Myer staff would be offered counselling and “any other support” following the brazen robbery.

She said Saturday afternoon was a busy trading time but did not want to give any details about the number of staff targeted or the reactions of security staff.

Ms Lynch said Myer employed a number of uniformed and covert security staff in its city store.

“Our high definition CCTV footage was provided to police,” she said.

“The safety of our team members and customers is our absolute priority.”
