Both students will be sponsored by the Rotary Club of Inverell.

Alex and Liam had to submit a resume outlining their interests and achievements.

After success at the initial interviews in Walcha they then travelled to Tamworth.

The process here required the boys to work through a number of different stations.

At one station they had to demonstrate and talk about a piece of science equipment.

Alex spoke about a Bunsen burner and Liam talked about pipettes. At another they were required to make decisions about climate change based on three different pieces of information.

Another station asked candidates to consider the qualities involved in effective teamwork and to justify their decision.

The NYSF program is aimed at students with an interest in science but it also concentrates on leadership and teamwork.

Students get the opportunity to meet experts in various fields, work in state of the art laboratories, visit related industries and interact with likeminded people.

Inverell students have a very successful NYSF record and Inverell Rotary is extremely proud to be involved in the program.

Liam and Alex can choose to attend the weeklong program in either Canberra or Perth. The programs will run in January next year.
